Sam Grewe

Athlete

Sam Grewe: Born in Goshen, Ind to Randall and Michelle Grewe, Sam has one sister, Audrey. Having a rich athletic career, Grewe played lacrosse, basketball, and football in his formative years. In late 2011 Grewe was diagnosed with osteosarcoma which led to the amputation of his right leg. After Grewe was cancer-free he returned to the world of sport by joining Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA), a Paralympic sport club based in Lake Forest, Illinois. Sam excelled in adaptive sport and within a year following his first competition he was representing team USA in Doha, Qatar for the IPC Athletics World Championships. Sam competes as with a T42/F42 classification.

First-Year Medical School:

  • 2021 Tokyo Paralympics: Gold medal (high jump); 1.88m

  • Silverston Invitational High Jump 1.85m
